UPS GFF Pricing Analyst in Alpharetta, Georgia
The Pricing Analyst provides pricing proposals and/or customer implementations using UPS developed systems. He/she provides competitive rates and effective pricing strategies that both maximize profitability and favorably position UPS in the marketplace. This position may be required to work with Sales, Operations, and Finance groups to ensure timely and accurate customer setup.
The Pricing Analyst evaluates Price Quota Requests (PQRs) from the field for accuracy, completeness, and validity to ensure all information is provided to fulfill the pricing request. He/she runs queries using various database tools to understand customers’ current contracts, volume, and rates to determine pricing necessary to win or retain business and what value proposition UPS can provide. This position evaluates competitive situations, current market conditions, and profitability of accounts to formulate sales/pricing strategies. He/she audits contracts or addendums for accuracy and completeness before they are sent to the field to ensure contracts and addendums are correct and the proper discounts are offered. This position also completes ad hoc analyses for upper management to provide information on financial impacts of different pricing scenarios. This position may supervise others within the department.
Collaborates with Sales and Pricing personnel as needed to gather all relevant data not included in the PQRs.
Evaluates and analyzes customers’ shipping requests to gain a comprehensive understanding of customers’ needs and recommend UPS services.
Develops appropriate sales/pricing strategies to position UPS effectively and appropriately in relation to the competition and marketplace while taking profitability and contribution into consideration.
Develops Price Quote Authorizations (PQAs) to create official working documents for Pricing and Sales outlining the discount program.
Completes bid acceptance checklists of contracts or addendums from Sales in addition to bid response forms to ensure accurate implementation of contracts and customer information.
Audits contracts or addendums for accuracy after acceptance and implementation and set up to ensure correct and proper rates are offered.
Responds to internal and external requests from a wide variety of groups to provide pricing solutions and clarify information needs for account setups.
Meets with the Analyst group and Senior Analyst to conduct internal training.
Sends contracts to Legal for review when required to evaluate any customized contract language requested by customers.
Revises contract language and structure as necessary to gain agreement between UPS and customers.
Familiar with primary information sources relevant to assigned area; utilizes computer-based analytical and information management tools in order to perform routine analysis; documents approach and findings; reviews results with others as appropriate.
Understands the various pricing processes for small to large customers and when they are utilized (e.g., template, AE custom; freight forwarding one day quotes, quick quotes and RFP – simple and complex); understands how to complete rate comparisons between competitors.
Identifies key factors behind basic problems and establish a path to solve them; proposes approaches to solve more complicated problems; investigates and diagnoses anomalies in routine business results.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of competitor’s tactics, product/service offerings, and strategies; translates competitor performance and actions into implications for UPS.
Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives.
