Job Summary

The Advertising Manager develops and directs advertising strategies, campaigns, and budgets for assigned segments. He/She manages the creation of digital advertising campaigns, ongoing creative and media optimizations, the digital analytics regarding program performance, and iterative testing strategies. This position ensures advertising agencies produce high quality, effective advertising campaigns.

The Advertising Manager interprets business objectives and develops effective advertising programs that achieve those objectives in assigned segments. He/She implements digital display, video, paid search and paid social programs. This position develops campaign creative, guides digital and offline media planning/execution. The Advertising Manager oversees the creation of in-market creative and media testing plans, related measurement strategies, and reporting on results. He/ She provides guidance to the advertising agency to direct the creation of campaigns, and establishes advertising goals aligned with business and brand priorities. This position also manages the overall advertising budget. This position supervises others within the department.

Other Duties

  • Designs, develops and produces advertising communications by evaluating needs, designing strategies for target audiences, and crafting effective messaging.

  • Manages paid media strategy by authoring and approving digital media briefs, selecting appropriate digital/offline channels, actively monitoring and optimizing in-market programs to improve effectiveness.

  • Manages primary advertising agency teams/resources to achieve objectives, authorizing production, digital media purchases and prioritizing projects for development.

  • Establishes digital campaign measurement and analytics strategy, reports on campaign diagnostic measures, and other key performance indicators of effectiveness.

  • Manages budgets and understands accounting processes, determines resources and allocates funds, monitors expenditures to budget targets and resolves discrepancies.

  • Conducts performance appraisals, prepares and monitors development plans for direct reports.

  • Identifies, coordinates, and manages internal and external communication integration activities to ensure consistency in UPS advertising messages.

  • Communication Design and Management: Designs messaging and visuals for appropriate audience; specifies needs and requirements for new communication programs; identifies and addresses logistical issues with communication programs.

  • Budget Management: Tracks expenditures against financial targets; describes impact of area’s budget on organizational financial plan.

  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Demonstrates a broad understanding of UPS and vendor business needs and goals; reviews and recommends appropriate vendors based on business needs to internal stakeholders; provides input into the creation of vendor contracts or agreements; communicates expectations to vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Advertising, Communications, Marketing - Preferred

  • Knowledge of digital media, programmatic advertising techniques and associated digital tools such as Data Management Platforms, Demand-side Platforms (DSP’s) and Tag Management systems – Preferred

  • Knowledge of creative/media testing techniques, strategies and related measurement methodologies - Preferred

  • Experience in agency account management and strategy - Preferred

  • Experience in managing creation and production of digital display banner/video advertising content - Preferred
