UPS Sr Development Specialist in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

The Programmer Associate fulfills data requests and maintains data utilized for standard and specialized requests. He/She writes data request instructions in the Structured Query Language (SQL) servers to support and maintain databases and web applications. This position summarizes and queries data for UPS department requestors.

The Programmer Associate develops queries and processes and creates data sets to pull data and ensure accuracy. He/She communicates with data requestors and approvers to clarify requests, explain data and analysis characteristics, provide status, and support the management approval process. This position analyzes UPS business data to assist users with defining data requests and to ensure accurate results are provided. He/She fulfills data requests for various groups to support UPS's business opportunities.

Other Duties

  • Identifies data sources and develops processes for storing data to pool data.

  • Tests gathering processes to verify data is correct and web pages are functioning properly.

  • Creates gathering processes to pull data from various sources for use in various applications.

  • Documents gathering processes to create documents for data library reference.

  • Documents tables and structures to create documents for data library reference.

  • Performs data research to determine data sources are available and usable for fulfilling requests.

  • Creates and updates lists, workflows, and restrictions in Sharepoint.

  • Manages permission and access rights in Sharepoint.

  • Detail Orientation: Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files.

  • Quality Assurance Knowledge: Communicates quality assurance methodology and explains desired outcomes of testing; identifies the steps in the project life cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline – Preferred

  • Experience using SQL (i.e., writing data instructions and debugging pre-written requests) – Preferred
