Job Summary

The UPSC Lead Business Systems Analyst works with business partners across multiple business functions and Information Technology (IT) to align technology solutions with business strategies. This position plans, analyzes, and defines application requirements and supports system testing. He/She addresses and resolves issues and works on assignments involving system analysis. This position analyzes current processes and identifies system and business impacts. The UPSC Lead Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the collection, analysis, documentation, and possible design of business and functional requirements. This position manages others within the department.

The UPSC Lead Business Systems Analyst provides technical consulting regarding usage of the IT operational environment, integration of application systems, and specific products to improve system solution quality. He/She develops presentations and management summaries of processes, procedures, standards, proposals, products, and technology to other functional areas and senior management to ensure understanding of project goals and scope. This position participates in short and long-term development planning sessions with clients to improve business processes. The UPSC Lead Business Systems Analyst participates in system integration testing of operating systems, system utilities, and new software and hardware technologies to ensure testing scenarios are validated. He/She analyzes current processes to identify system and business impacts. This position analyzes business needs and system requirements to contribute to the solution.

Other Duties

  • Tests and implements software solutions utilizing appropriate software engineering processes to ensure adherence to specifications and timely implementation.

  • Implements major software upgrades to ensure change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed.

  • Installs and configures operating systems, major subsystems, new software releases, system upgrades, and patches to support hardware products.

  • Tunes operating systems and components to enhance system performance and avoid problems.

  • Provide consultative team leadership and coaching to IT staff to elevate overall analytic capabilities; guide team regarding data choices, business processes, and optimal methods of information delivery; educate staff about quality improvement, analytical methodology, database theory, programming and other relevant topics.

  • Installs and configures Database Servers across different network topologies.

  • Leads and manages large, complex enterprise-level projects consisting of two agile (offshore and in-house) teams and/or requires integration with other activities outside the scope of the agile teams.

  • Acts as a team level consultant to help put in place the appropriate people, process, and tools and coaching members of the team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the project team.

  • Technology Implementation: Modifies or adjusts logistics, schedule, rollout plans, or support material; identifies and communicates routine implementation issues and plans; uses existing plans to implement technology solutions.

  • Technology Knowledge: Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups; recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices.
