Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I
The Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I is responsible for developing work measurement and defining process flow for use in improving brokerage operational conditions that increase productivity, reduce cost and meet service commitments. He/she creates operating plans and procedures and develops, implements, and assesses brokerage operations’ long and short range operating plans. This position assists operators in implementing improved operating plans and procedures, and new services and technology. The Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I supports operations over multiple states and shifts (covering approximately 200 employees), and utilizes multiple systems and process models to provide tools, training, methods certification, and assistance as needed to support the achievement of the business plan. This position also ensures that best practices are identified, documented, implemented and forwarded to other areas and regions. The Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I may oversee supervisors, specialists, interns, and co-ops.
A core responsibility of this position is to develop and maintain work measurement for all operations to support operating plans. This includes improving processes and job set-ups and reducing the hours needed to perform a particular operation or process. It also includes working with Operations to develop a shift plan that supports both operational and customer requirements, and reviewing the impact of standards changes or updates with appropriate managers.
Another major component of this position is to develop operating plans, which involves working with Operations to develop components of the Network Operating Plan, Daily and Seasonal plans. This individual also mines data from numerous systems to facilitate analysis of operating plans. Other duties are to update plans to reflect new services or changing conditions, and develop contingency plans for unexpected situations. The Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I also analyzes current process flow charts, production schedules and other plan components to identify opportunities for process and workflow improvements. A third core responsibility is to provide guidance and support in improving operations. Duties include working with area, division and staff managers to improve cost and service levels, and using gap and statistical analysis, and on-site visits, to identify performance and service problems and develop solutions. The Global Brokerage IE Supervisor I also assumes project management responsibilities for IE initiatives.
Implement and coordinate network plans, initiatives and communications; address customer issues
Monitor operations for plan adherence, and conduct audits (e.g., schedules, volume, productivity, overtime, etc.) to identify areas for improvement and/or areas or processes that are out of compliance
Review weekly trends (e.g., historical volume, marketing and economic data), develop volume projections and forecast future resource needs
Provide building and facilities Request for Appropriations (RFA) support
Determine employee training needs and provide feedback and support
Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues
Analyzes data to identify requirements, problems or inefficiencies and to recommend solutions in work methods, processes or flows
Applies knowledge of information systems elements (hardware, software, network) and their application to business functions/processes
Applies an understanding of policies and procedures to situations and operations in a business area
Applies knowledge of company structure and operations to resolve problems, make decisions and achieve business objectives

Measures and evaluates individual, group and business performance, results and goal attainment. Sets goals, identifies key indicators, uses measurement tools and identifies gaps
Synthesizes, combines and integrates information and data to form conclusions and make sound decisions and recommendations
