UPS Instructional Design Supervisor in Louisville, Kentucky
The Instructional Designer is responsible for managing designers and external vendors in the design and development of e-learning and blended learning content for enterprise-wide Leadership Development programs (i.e., New Management Orientation [NMO], Global Leadership College [GLC] offerings, etc.) using Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE), and Instructional Systems Design (ISD) guidelines for building effective training and performance support tools. He/She ensures design models include needs and performance analysis, content design and development, implementation, and evaluation tools utilized across the organization. This position oversees the design of training plans and programs, communication vehicles, and materials, in addition to managing specialists. This position is located in Louisville, KY.
The Instructional Designer conducts front-end training needs assessments to meet recommendation requests for training interventions. He/She manages design team deliverables to ensure design and development specifications align with the statement of work, and in addition, works with various departments (e.g., Human Resources [HR], Operations, Learning Technologies, etc.) to develop an understanding of the work being performed within a business unit and region. The Instructional Designer also participates in the implementation of learning strategies for Leadership Development training to effectively and continuously develop the global workforce.
Responds to internal customer requests to analyze and evaluate training needs and offer appropriate solution strategies.
Makes adjustments throughout the project to ensure the successful attainment of the stated learning and training objectives.
Reviews design solutions to verify identified objectives meet project sponsors’ requirements.
Coordinates design of pilot classes to disseminate training and learning materials and coordinate logistics for successful deployment.
Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
Assesses Business Needs: Demonstrates a general understanding of ways to identify and measure the current needs of the customer or business; uses the business need to help define the project’s requirements.
Instructional Design Knowledge: Applies knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design to the creation of instructional materials; evaluates existing analysis to identify learning gaps and provide recommendations; assists in the alignment of training to business outcomes; demonstrates ability to identify implementation gaps and provide suggestions for improvement; identifies appropriate measurement to assess learning.

Project Management: Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.

Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Instructional Design – Preferred
Master’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Preferred
Master’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Instructional Design - Preferred
Experience demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) - Preferred
Experience with Instructional Design - Preferred
