About this role:
The Lead Telecommunications Analyst analyzes, architects, designs, and configures wireless telecommunications networks, systems, and services to meet business and customer requirements. This position supports the network architecture and infrastructure for the Wireless LAN, cellular, mobile, security, and radio frequency (RF) solutions. He/She performs capacity, resource, and contingency planning to manage the risks of network failure and to ensure appropriate service levels are maintained. This position implements and manages network management and analytics software. He/She maintains network disaster recovery plans and monitors network performance and availability. This position assists with the installation of network devices (e.g., access points, wireless controllers, routers, and switches for local and remote locations, etc.). He/She performs quality assurance and testing of wireless communication mediums and infrastructure components. The Lead Telecommunications Analyst provides support for the telecommunications infrastructure. He/She investigates and resolves complex wireless network problems. This position maintains and increases a broad range of knowledge and skills in telecommunications systems, wireless networks, mobile solutions, and emerging technologies. He/She selects and contributes to applicable standards, methods, tools, and applications. He/She plans, schedules, and monitors work to meet time and quality targets in accordance with legislation and UPS procedures.
The Lead Telecommunications Analyst will utilize a broad range of IT / UPS experience to produce network system designs, develop and document telecom standards, and perform lab and proof-of-concept testing for WLAN solutions to provide connectivity to the mobile devices and applications used globally at UPS. Resource will also act as a lead on the team to mentor junior members with project tasks and problem resolution. The Lead Telecommunications Analyst will also interact and manage vendors to research new products and services. Job requirements include knowledge of Wireless LAN and data networks, systematic troubleshooting skills, project management, and experience with Wireless LAN analysis tools such as sniffers and spectrum analysis devices.
Additionally the resource will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey technical information to all levels of the organization, commitment to meeting project deliverables and milestones, an understanding of technology use at UPS, and a focus on proper change management for all deployments.
Expert proficiency with data communications, wireless networking concepts and protocols, network design, and network testing and troubleshooting methodologies
Experience with WLAN/LAN technologies, mobile connectivity solutions, RF spectrum, technical knowledge of hardware and software, network protocols (TCP/IP), mobile network security and authentication, and IT project management
Knowledge of LAN Administration, Microsoft Office, UPS mobile applications and scanning hardware
The desired Lead Telecommunications Analyst will possess a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or the equivalent in education and work experience.
Completion of CWNA, CWSP and CWAP courses and certification desired.
