Job Summary

The Brokerage Supervisor II is responsible for administering Customs and Border Protection compliance, conducting exception reviews, and providing customer care assistance. He/she must be able to work varying shifts and travel by car or plane- extended stays are possible. He/she trains hourly employees on compliance with regulations and requirements, and implements and enforces related policies and procedures. He/she maintains productivity, develops team goals, and manages the workload of hourly staff. The Brokerage Supervisor II is well versed on international commerce and transportation industry changes. This position supervises hourly staff.

In carrying out customs compliance and cargo related duties, the Brokerage Supervisor II responds to Customs information requests and notices of action to ensure timelines are met. He/she also reviews compliance and liability reports to reduce cargo delays and costs associated with non-compliance of Customs and Border Protection regulations. Another major focus of this position is to conduct reviews of customs and operations exception reports. Duties include reviewing entry reports (e.g., late billing and invoice delay reports, container exception reports, etc.) to ensure accuracy, and reviewing Customs' memorandums and notices to be aware of Customs' regulation changes. The Brokerage Supervisor II is responsible for proactively managing exceptions and resolving problems in a timely manner to meet customer needs and avoid penalties.

Other Duties

  • Conduct customer meetings and business reviews to help customers maintain a leading business edge

  • Delegate and prioritize the workload to meet customers' deadlines

  • Review and approve Customs' statements to verify accuracy

  • Review client profitability and scope of work to identify possible changes or necessity of fee increases

  • Monitor accounts receivable and exchange issues to ensure current balance accuracy

  • Ensure staff development by coaching and providing feedback and verifying that employees have career goals and plans

  • Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues

  • Identify opportunities for advancing skills and capabilities

  • Apply knowledge of Customers business to identify growth opportunities

Preferred Competencies

  • Applies financial knowledge in order to read and interpret financial statements, develop business cases using financial information (e.g. cost, revenue forecasts, etc.) and plan and effectively manage budgets

  • Generates customized reports, accesses appropriate databases and interprets data

  • Manages budgets and understands accounting processes, determines needed resources and allocates funds, monitors expenditures to budget targets and resolves discrepancies

Basic Qualifications :

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years Brokerage experience.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer

  • Must be in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself there

  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and possibly on weekends and holidays

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Experience supervising employees is preferred

  • Previous brokerage experience or knowledge is preferred

  • Having a Customs Broker License or willing to obtain one is preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products or equivalent software is preferred
