UPS BaSE Specialist in Alpharetta, Georgia

Job Summary

The Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Specialist troubleshoots, calibrates, and adjusts plant floor devices as necessary to maintain optimal performance of plant floor equipment. This position sorts calls, breakdowns and expedites their completion. This role provides information to maintenance mechanics on how to complete required repairs to resolve breakdown situations. The Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Specialist assists in solving the daily problems inherent in keeping the conveyors or physical facility in good working order.


  • Responds to internal customers, facility alarms and emergencies when required

  • Troubleshoots problems that arise, and identifies operational improvements needed to improve safety and package flow efficiency

  • Monitors repair status and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) completion, conducts facility inspections

  • Inspects projects to ensure safety, environmental and contract compliance

  • Develops project plans, identifies necessary project resources, and manages project budget to accomplish objectives

  • Supervises smaller, less complex Plant Engineering (PE) projects and activities

  • Oversees the work of outside vendors, including scheduling and dispatching for routine facility maintenance and projects

  • Assists in developing scope of work and project cost estimates and submits schedules, drawings, feasibility studies, vendor lists and project funding requests

  • Creates and distributes bid documents and project manuals and evaluates incoming bids and project estimates

  • Maintains parts database, orders parts and equipment and ensures spare parts levels

  • Assists in maintaining environmental, safety and regulated goods compliance and participates in related audits

  • Delivers environmental, regulatory, safety and health compliance training

  • Estimates, identifies, and forecasts business indicators (e.g., feasibility, potential growth, costs, risks, benefits)


  • Demonstrates data analytics skills

  • Possesses ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and elementary diagrams

  • Possesses programming experience including troubleshooting, basic understanding of networks, motor control theory, and operation including basic AC and DC electrical troubleshooting

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
