UPS Ocean Pricing Senior Analyst in Alpharetta, Georgia

The Global Pricing Analyst supports Global Freight Forwarding (GFF) Ocean pricing requests for the GFF sales team. He/She reviews requests for accuracy and completeness and requests sales team for additional information. This position analyzes request data using pricing and revenue management tools to determine if results are within UPS’s approval guidelines. He/She addresses pricing-related questions to provide supplemental information requested by sales after initial proposal. This position works closely with international pricing groups and other business units to address price Request for Quote (RFQ)s that include multiple geographies, products and services and/or business units to ensure complete and accurate information.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops proposals and forwards it to the sales team and other pricing groups to facilitate fulfillment of customer requests

  • Compares bids to market rates/competitive situations and reviews costs associated with bids to ensure appropriate profitability guidelines

  • Works with contract and legal departments to confirm pricing details on contracts/agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance to policies

  • Obtains knowledge of pricing systems and tools to accurately track proposals through cycle

  • Works with appropriate internal systems to ensure timely and accurate pricing implementation

  • Follows up on outstanding proposals to determine the status of bids and updates appropriate reporting system

  • Reviews customer accepted pricing proposals to ensure contract integrity

  • Works with sales team to verify correct implementation of accepted proposals

  • Reviews modified customer’s contracts with manager to ensure it is compliant

  • Works on various process improvement projects

  • Supervises a team of pricing analysts

Knowledge and Skills

  • Utilizes analytical and information management tools to perform routine analysis, documents findings and reviews result with others

  • Applies information systems knowledge by demonstrating an understanding of the need for technical support in a business and systems of the enterprise

  • Demonstrates an understanding of various pricing processes for small to large customers, their utilization (e.g., template, AE custom; freight forwarding one day quotes, quick quotes and RFP – simple and complex) and compares the competitor’s rates

  • Identifies key factors behind issues and resolves them

  • Demonstrates an understanding of products, services and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications

  • Understands competitor’s tactics, product, service offerings, strategies and translates competitor performance /actions into implications for UPS

  • Possesses experience interpreting financial reports/statements and understands financial measures, revenue and cost drivers

  • Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) in finance, accounting, economics, business administration – Preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access) – Preferred
