UPS Ocean Revenue Management Specialist in Alpharetta, Georgia
The Ocean Freight Specialist processes and supports the completion of Ocean Freight import and export activity. This position generates reports and performs data analyses to identify performance gaps. He/She provides timely and accurate information on vendor service level agreements. This position monitors customer transactions to ensure customer needs are met and operations are in compliance. He/She performs business analysis to support International Freight Supervisors and Managers by performing business analysis for internal and external customer driven projects.
The Ocean Freight Specialist utilizes standardized operating procedures to maintain existing business and implement solutions with new customers. He/She monitors vendor service levels to ensure adherence to contractual agreements. This position develops customer relationships to ensure service satisfaction and expand business relationships. The Ocean Freight Specialist collaborates with service providers (i.e., vendors) and Operations to resolve service inconsistencies. He/She provides timely information to vendors and customers to convey updates and operational activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Audits customer account invoices to ensure adherence to customer agreements.
Investigates invoice problems to identify root causes, reduce costs, and resolve billing concerns.
Collaborates with customers and vendors to maintain relationships and meet profitability objectives.
Demonstrates ocean freight knowledge to develop customer solutions and increase revenue.
Gathers customer business requirements to develop standard operating procedures and ensure performance metrics are met.
Monitors and updates customer profiles to ensure customer needs are documented.
Coordinates new customer set up with cross-functional contacts (e.g., Finance and Accounting, Business Development, etc.) to ensure requirements are documented.
Supports customer solutions to maximize revenue growth.
Compiles operational documentation to ensure compliance with existing processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Resolves transportation issues to ensure timely and accurate completion of customer expectations.
Knowledge and Skills
Applies Service, Product, and Customer Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company.
Freight Forwarding Operations Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic understanding of proper processes, procedures, and use of technology for intermodal transportation.
Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic understanding of the functions, regulations, and procedures of compliance agencies or governing bodies; takes a leadership position in programs that reduce risk and enhance safety.
Report Generation: Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others.
Possesses advanced Excel, intermediate Access, and intermediate SQL skills
Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Business, Engineering, Finance or Marketing - Preferred
