Job Summary
The Enterprise Network Planning Manager - Advanced Analytics is responsible for developing leading edge optimizations and analytics-based decision support tools. He/She develops models and algorithms and maintains products, programs, and solutions that impact cost management for all UPS operations, acquisitions, pricing, and performance improvement.
The Enterprise Network Planning Manager - Advanced Analytics establishes enterprise processes for strategic network planning and integration to maintain consistent planning approaches. In addition, he/she identifies operations enhancement opportunities and ensures the success and relevance of analytical projects. This position applies state-of-the-art analytical and optimization techniques in Operations and strategic transportation applications. This position may manage analysts.
Other Duties
Develops and prototypes algorithms to ensure optimization results satisfy problem statements and business needs.
Develops hypotheses, approaches (i.e., analytic plans and methodologies), tools, products, and solutions to solve problems and increase profitability.
Presents analytic findings and recommendations to management to define problems, to propose business cases and strategies, and to gain support.
Uses advanced mathematical techniques (e.g., data envelope analysis, neural networks, integer programming, forecasting techniques, etc.) to rank or quantify customer performance and value.
Uses prediction methodologies (e.g., neural networks, decisions trees, link analysis, genetic algorithms, etc.) to identify potential new users of new and enhanced products.
Participates in cross-functional team meetings to identify areas where advanced analytical support is needed.
Leads the analysis and integration of tools and methods to provide desired results from models and requirements
Communicates analytical results to stakeholders to ensure the solution is effective and desired results are achieved.
Conducts technical research to determine relevant data.
Explores relevant model data to gain insight of variables and identify relationships with existing data.
Utilizes appropriate mathematical and statistical techniques and draws valid conclusions to understand the advantages, disadvantages, and underlying assumptions of mathematical methods.

Project Planning: Develops and executes project management plans for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.
Risk Management: Identifies and evaluates risks; determines and applies appropriate risk treatment(s).
Statistical Analysis: Demonstrates extensive knowledge of statistical sampling, tests, and analyses and chooses the most appropriate method; demonstrates extensive knowledge of multivariate and generalized linear models and time series models; demonstrates an ability to interpret results and draw conclusions from analyses; troubleshoots errors in data, models, and interpretation; creates processes for improving the integrity of existing data.
Supply Chain Management: Demonstrates a detailed understanding of supply chain concepts; makes recommendations for changes to solve supply chain problems.
Technology Knowledge: Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups; recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices.
Work Methods, Processes, Flows Design: Identifies root causes of recurrent workflow failures; estimates time and cost to implement new work methods, processes, and flows; recommends design changes to basic work methods, processes, and flows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree – Industrial Engineering or Operations Research – Preferred
PhD degree - Industrial Engineering or Operations Research – Preferred
Experience with object-oriented programming languages
Experience using optimization solvers such as CPLEX or Gurobi - Preferred
Experience developing and managing large-scale simulation model using discrete event simulation tool such as ARENA or SIMIO - Preferred
Experience with Network Optimization Software - Preferred
