UPS GACS SP Financial Analytics Supervisor in Atlanta, Georgia

UPS is seeking a dynamic individual to maintain and develop accounting, costing, reporting and planning systems, which supports international profitability initiatives. This individual performs data analysis using SQL, Excel and Power BI. They will document requirements, write business specifications, perform quality assurance testing, provide production support and improve business solutions.

The GACS Financial Analytics Supervisor meets with finance and accounting users, contributes to conference calls and provides support to the business users by means of a SharePoint site. He/She researches data issues and provides feedback to the finance users. This position works with systems developers to validate business solutions and remains involved in all stages in the project life cycle. The GACS Financial Analytics Supervisor holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Works with system developers to validate newly created system

  • Audits imported data to ensure accuracy

  • Communicates methodology changes to end users to ensure their understanding

  • Researches application issues and gathers data to analyze and identify root cause

  • Identifies resolutions required to fix application problems

  • Analyzes output data to define business rules as required

  • Supports user base questions and feedback to ensure all pertinent parties are informed

  • Runs various reports and audits to verify application results

Knowledge and Skills

  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles

  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and smaller specific facts associated with work; makes efforts to understand specifics of events (causes and effects); ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail

  • Process & Report Generation: Possesses ability to create and enhance processes and/or reports using functions in software, and/or writing queries; identifies information required for completion and assesses existing processes and reports generated by others

  • Data Analysis: Possess ability to evaluate data into useful insights to support decision-making and conclusions

  • Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work

  • Experience analyzing large data sets

  • Proficiency in SQL - Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related STEM field - Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products or similar software – Preferred
