UPS International Finance Data Analyst in Atlanta, Georgia

UPS is seeking a dynamic International Finance Data Analyst to develop and maintain systems that support profitability initiatives for International regions. He/She assists in proper design and functionality of systems, and performs quality assurance testing to provide solutions for improving processes and accurate data values. The International Finance Data Analyst performs data analysis using SQL or Microsoft Excel and provides feedback to the finance users in the field.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Audits imported data and output data to ensure accuracy

  • Assists in query design

  • Defines scope of issues to determine root causes

  • Documents requirements (e.g. business specifications) and coding solution to ensure correct implementation of new process

  • Communicates changes and analyses to the field and upper management

  • Supports users by researching and responding to issue logs

  • Executes system testing to ensure system issues are resolved

  • Analyzes system process to identify areas of enhancement

Knowledge and Skills

  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles

  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail

  • Process & Report Generation: Possesses ability to create and enhance processes and/or reports using functions in software, and/or writing queries; identifies information required for completion and assesses existing processes and reports generated by others

  • Data Analysis: Possess ability to evaluate large sets of data into useful insights to support decision-making and conclusions

  • Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work

  • Technical Skills: Demonstrates basic knowledge of database design principles; identifies users’ requirements and needs with guidance from others; demonstrates a basic understanding of the importance of maintaining and updating databases

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related STEM field – Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products or similar software – Preferred

  • Proficiency in SQL – Preferred
