Job Summary

The Product Management Senior Analyst is responsible for the effective management of a product, program or channels within the UPS Portfolio. He/She participates in market research, and product, program or channel management to assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies. This position is responsible for supporting a particular product/channel by gathering information and performing analyses used to assess the performance of UPS’s products, channels, services, and value propositions. The Product Management Senior Analyst develops routine and ad-hoc product performance reports, performs defined maintenance activities for support infrastructure and materials, supports seasonal operating plan analysis and development, and develops content in support of field training and communications. This position may manage supervisors/analyst.

The Product Management Senior Analyst performs data analyses to convert raw data into relevant metrics to establish and document product/segment performance (e.g., package volume and revenue impact, breakeven point, rate of return, etc.). He/She conducts research (e.g., phone calls, focus groups, e-mail surveys, etc.) with customer segments to determine project/program obstacles, problems or opportunities for new offerings. This position delivers presentations to key stakeholders (e.g., project managers, and representatives of the Sales and Marketing group, Operations, Pricing, etc.) to share information and keep them informed.

Other Duties

  • Responds to stakeholder questions and concerns to ensure understanding of findings and gain commitment and buy-in.

  • Facilitates classroom and online training to ensure learners have tools to effectively perform job responsibilities, to enhance skills, to improve performance, and to ensure overall success.

  • Manages and coordinates modes and logistics to identify participants, to develop schedules, to evaluate appropriate locations, and to ensure cost-effectiveness and smooth execution of training.

  • Works with the Communications Department to create materials for customers and the sales force (e.g., press releases, customer case studies, trade shows, etc.) that support current projects and marketing initiatives.

  • Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.

Preferred Competencies

  • Applies Knowledge of Communications and Brand Strategy: Demonstrates understanding of the purpose of brand positioning as well as UPS’s current positioning and brand strategy; identifies opportunities to ensure that UPS’s brand strategy is reflected and reinforced in the outputs of work.

  • Applies Revenue Management Knowledge: Understands the objectives, strategies and policies of Revenue Management; understands the role that Revenue Management plays and how Revenue Management interacts with other functions, particularly Sales, Marketing, Finance and I.T.; understands the various pricing processes for small to large customers and when they are utilized (e.g., template, AE custom, freight forwarding one day quotes, quick quotes and RFP – simple and complex); understands product profitability at a high level.

  • Conducts Customer Business Process Analysis: Familiar with the primary customer business processes in which UPS solutions are most frequently applied (e.g., order management, shipping, receiving, returns, accounts receivable and accounts payable); within area of responsibility, able to describe customer benefits through the application of UPS solutions.

  • Develops Marketing Objectives and Strategies: Demonstrates understanding of the hierarchy, relationships, and required consistency between levels of objectives and strategies (corporate, marketing, and segment); identifies potential marketing objectives and strategies along with the rationale for each.

  • Develops Situational Assessments: Demonstrates familiarity with the UPS market planning process; assembles and interprets components of the situational assessment; describes the primary experience levers that customers value within area of responsibility; accurately defines the various lifecycle stages of a UPS customer or prospect (e.g., conversion, penetration, retention, win-back) and company strategies targeted to each stage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Preferred

  • Experience performing data analytics - Preferred
