UPS Spring Engineering Intern - Demand Forecasting in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

The Engineering Intern drives insights about the UPS network of today and tomorrow and involves project areas including building quantitative logistics models and developing innovative data visualizations. This position will work on developing a machine learning model to make time series predictions. This role performs other career related responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of advanced statistical and machine learning models to predict future demand/staffing needs

  • Provides small project support in developing new ML pipelines and maintaining current model for current operations

  • Develops analytical models and data visualizations to drive analytic insights

  • Assists with maintaining of data sources, error metrics and model selection for the various processes

  • Interacts with cross-functional teams to model current operations processes and evaluate potential solutions

  • Presents data insights and recommendations to key stakeholders

Preferences

  • Demonstrates good knowledge/experience in programming and algorithms

  • Possesses ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills

  • Interacts and communicates effectively across business units and to different levels of management

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

  • Recent graduate or pursuing a degree in Engineering, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
