UPS Transaction Analyst Supervisor in Atlanta, Georgia

UPS is seeking a Transaction Analyst to assist in the development of financial models, and the coordination of the due diligence process. He/She analyzes potential target companies and monitors pre and post-closing obligations to ensure they are fulfilled. The Transaction Analyst establishes initial valuations of target companies through the analysis of financial profiles and identification of potential risks and synergies. The Transaction Analyst assists with the creation of deal-specific executive overviews to describe the transaction and valuation fundamentals to senior management. He/She generates a framework financial model with base assumptions to facilitate the initial valuation review and discussion. The Transaction Analyst compiles, organizes, and analyzes the financial profiles of target companies to assist in the identification of risks and synergy opportunities. He/She organizes and schedules all aspects of the remote and on-site diligence process to facilitate the analysis of the target company. The Transaction Analyst assists in the creation and monitoring of the final closing and post signing checklists to ensure all contractual closing conditions are met.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Analyzes relevant data of potential target companies and its competitors to understand and communicate the current state of the industry and competitive landscape

  • Evaluates business plans and synergy estimates of UPS business units and potential target companies to create databooks to facilitate discussions

  • Maintains and organizes records to ensure the broader team has access to appropriate project files

  • Researches and maintains a database of comparable companies and precedent transactions to help establish valuation benchmarks

  • Calculates deal-specific financial metrics to assess the appropriateness of the overall valuation

  • Works with the cross-functional diligence team to ensure all areas are addressed, timelines are met, and findings are reviewed and summarized

  • Maintains data and documents to ensure files are readily accessible for commercial, legal and retention purposes

  • Assists with the cross-functional coordination of transaction communications to ensure appropriate functions are involved at the proper stages and a proper hand-off to the integration team is completed

  • Coordinates with Tax and Treasury to ensure accurate and timely payments are made according to the language in the purchase agreements

  • Monitors release of holdback payments to ensure protection against material findings not discovered and disclosed during the due diligence process

Knowledge and Skills

  • Identifies the business problem that requires research; identifies sources of information that are relevant to a problem; reviews literature and data related to the research question; summarizes information from data sources

  • Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files

  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the functions, regulations, and procedures of compliance agencies or governing bodies; takes a leadership position in programs that reduce risk and enhance safety

  • Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies issues with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)

  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of risk management fundamentals

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field – Preferred

  • Master’s Degree or currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program – Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word – Preferred
