UPS UPS Capital Intermediate Business System Analyst in Atlanta, Georgia

The UPS Capital Intermediate Business Systems Analyst acts as a liaison between the Information Technology (IT) department and the client. This position collects, analyzes, reviews, documents, and communicates business needs and requirements. He/She interacts with clients to assess their needs and look for opportunities to develop and grow the business through effective use of technology. The UPS Capital Intermediate Business Systems Analyst collaborates with IT professionals to determine whether solutions currently exist (internally or externally) or whether new solutions are feasible. He/She determines how such solutions will impact existing work processes and systems and how to manage the integration. This position researches and facilitates the evaluation of "buy versus build" decisions. He/She designs, develops, and links requirements to the application. The UPS Capital Intermediate Business Systems Analyst designs user documentation and supports user development of test cases for system testing. This position works with business partners across multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.

The UPS Capital Intermediate Business Systems Analyst collects, analyzes, and documents business and functional requirements to design business system requirements. He/She analyzes business needs and system requirements to contribute to the solution. This position analyzes current processes to identify system and business impacts. The UPS Capital Intermediate Business Systems Analyst assesses client needs utilizing a structured process (i.e., gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to assist in identifying business requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinates with business partners and appropriate IT groups to facilitate work sessions

  • Validates requirements for application enhancements

  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation

  • Interfaces and coordinates with internal/external agencies

  • Conducts application testing

  • Provides end user training and support

  • Analyzes and resolves end user inquiries

  • Supports design of integrated solutions to business problem

Knowledge and Skills

  • Applies Information Systems Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the strategy, structures, processes and procedures of the enterprise in its relationship with the business and its activities; identifies business representatives affected by information systems with some assistance

  • Assesses Business Needs: Demonstrates a general understanding of ways to identify and measure the current needs of the customer or business; uses the business need to help define the project’s requirements

  • Conducts Customer Analysis: Works with others to research stakeholders' and key decision-makers' needs, requirements, and perspectives; describes in general terms customer characteristics, preferences, history, processes and constraints; lists what products and services are currently used by customers; uses knowledge of customers to provide input into which products or features to promote

  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Demonstrates a general knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information

  • Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment

  • Technical Writing: Demonstrates a general understanding and use of grammatical rules; expresses ideas clearly and concisely; explains the relationship of effective writing to business objectives

  • Technical/Vocational Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred

  • Insurance industry knowledge and experience - Preferred

  • Experience with MSFT technologies, SQL Server or .NET - Preferred

  • Experience with API concepts - Preferred

  • Basic understanding of database objects (e.g., tables, views, etc.) - Preferred

  • Experience performing data mapping - Preferred

  • Experience preparing logical and physical data flow diagrams - Preferred

  • Experience with Agile Methodologies - Preferred

  • Experience with CRM technologies - Preferred
