UPS GBS Payroll Specialist in Coppell, Texas

Job Summary

The GBS Payroll Specialist assists with managing the payroll process for his/her assigned employee group (e.g., region, district, hourly, management, etc.) to ensure accurate payroll processing. He/She assists with organizing workflows, developing procedures, and setting priorities to meet payroll deadlines. This position requires a working knowledge of labor contracts and state laws pertaining to payroll throughout the UPS network.

The GBS Payroll Specialist provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance. He/She analyzes the payroll process to correct deficiencies and implement standardization practices to gain efficiency. This position collaborates with payroll department employees to promote process innovation and support strategic planning.

Other Duties

  • Determines employees’ training needs.

  • Audits manual checks to validate payment details (e.g., check issuance reason, coding, calculations, taxation, etc.).

  • Updates payroll procedures and deadlines to ensure timely and accurate payroll completion.

  • Monitors process performance throughout the payroll cycle to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Leverages payroll system technology to maximize productivity and minimize costs.

  • Utilizes knowledge of federal, state, and local tax implications to ensure payroll is processed correctly.

  • Reviews payroll-related general ledger reconciliation items to implement corrective actions and mitigate future general ledger variances.

  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles.

  • Detail Orientation: Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files.

  • Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Business, Accounting, or a related field – Preferred
