The UPS Flight Forward Assistant Chief Pilot manages regional team members and operations. They must have extensive knowledge of UPSFF drone systems and manuals. They will provide support to maintenance, training, operations, and represent UPSFF to external organizations. This position is responsible for adhering to FAA regulation, and UPSFF policies and procedures while ensuring safety and efficiency with drone operations. This position must have excellent management qualities and be able to qualify as an instructor and check airman for Part 135 drone operations. Previous instructor experience preferred. Some travel will be required.
Duties include representing as the UAS fleet system and manuals subject matter expert while assisting instructors with writing of UAS fleet manuals. Qualify as instructor to assist successful implementation of site readiness. Collaborate with operation centers to manage day-to-day flight operations. Attend meetings with external organizations (e.g., FAA, National Aeronautics, and Space Administration, etc.) to represent UPSFF. Conducts performance site evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Have 5-10 years of aviation experience in either unmanned or manned flight operations Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate, hold a current Remote Pilot Certificate, current Second Class Medical Certificate, and have authorization to work in the United States. Extensive knowledge of UAS aircraft systems, manuals, UAS aircraft manufacturer manuals. Strong communications skills and the ability to represent UPSFF in various meetings with internal and external customers. Management and instructor experience is required.
Airline operations or management experience. Instructor or check airman experience. Ability to utilize MS Office and Project software.
Adaptable to new ideas, resourceful, and able to see the big picture with a growing and developing environment. Positive leadership skills required, which include good communication and listening skills. Ability to embrace change and new concepts.
