UPS Contract Logistics Distribution Supervisor (Based in Sydney) in Greystanes, Australia
The Distribution Supervisor supervises daily activities for an account, department, multiple departments, or stations of a warehouse operation and acts as a customer liaison within UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS). He/She supervises a group of exempt or non-management employees who oversee inbound flow, inventory control, and outbound flow activities for customer products. The Distribution Supervisor manages operational efficiency and ensures work completion in an operational area. This position oversees team leads, warehouse and administrative employees within the department.
Supervisors Productivity Indicators
Collaborates with Industrial Engineering to develop new operating processes and set compliance standards.
Monitors compliance of operational processes to ensure performance standards are maintained.
Reviews existing processes to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.
Evaluates quality goals to develop process improvements and increase quality levels.
Conducts Inventory Control
Reviews contracts with clients to establish inventory control standards and practices for performance management.
Performs periodic physical inventory audits to validate inventory status.
Prepares inventory-based reports to document inventory status and utilize for analysis.
Monitors inventory levels to prevent inventory shrinkages and reduce financial losses.
Researches inventory discrepancies to identify root causes and develop process improvements.
Promotes Customer Satisfaction
Acts as customer liaison within UPS SCS to assist with new account implementation, customer service, problem resolution, and tracking of customer activity.
Participates in customer meetings and quarterly business reviews to provide information on productivity and performance.
Leverages knowledge of customers' business to identify new business development opportunities for UPS SCS.
Manages workload by delegating, prioritizing, and researching to ensure customer deadlines and contract requirements are completed.
Completes Performance and Systems Reporting
Conducts daily performance tracking to monitor compliance status and provide feedback to management and floor level employees.
Monitors validity of distribution operations reports to ensure accuracy, customer satisfaction, and overall efficiency.
Creates and manages account-specific required reports to provide timely and accurate information and meet performance standards.
Develops corrective action plans to address deficient areas identified from performance reports.
Acts as primary contact for resolution of systems issues to monitor system performance, provide training, and ensure proper system maintenance.
Analyze data and prepare presentations for client’s meetings as necessary.
Supervises and Develops Others
Determine employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.
Conduct performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
Resolve individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
Manages and approve employees’ leave applications and wage for payroll purposes.
Possess a High School Certificate / Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in similar capacity from Logistics industry.
Candidate must possess Forklift and Turret license with solid knowledge on warehousing management systems such as SAP & WMS system.
Positive and able to lead a team with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and able to work well with people of all levels.
Require demonstrated skills in MS Office Programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint).
