UPS Division H&S Supervisor T-Force Freight in Houston, Texas

Job Summary

This position is responsible for promoting a safe work environment and protecting the public to ensure the health and safety of all TFI employees and customers. The incumbent assists in ensuring regulatory and TFI policy compliance to prevent injuries and accidents and to reduce worker’s compensation and liability costs. This position may supervise others.

This position assists in executing the district-wide Health and Safety Action Plan to maintain a safe work environment. The incumbent conducts all district-wide safety training and certifications. This role reviews daily health and safety data, and analyzes reports to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and TFI health and safety regulations and determine non-compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers training and pre-course materials and communicates with Business Managers to distribute pre-course materials and to ensure timely participant completion

  • Conducts health and safety sessions and inspections (e.g., question and answer sessions, employee observations of safe habits, hearing and fall protection, machine guarding, seatbelt and secure package, etc.) to identify areas of non-compliance

  • Analyzes workers' compensation and auto liability to identify areas of cost reduction focus and most frequent/most expensive/most severe injuries and crashes

  • Conducts site visits and attends safety meetings to respond to internal customer requests and concerns

  • Serves on audit team to conduct Regulatory Compliance Review (RCR), Business Process Review (BPR), KETER, National Feeder or TFI internal audits and audit reviews

  • Visits injury/accident scenes and follows TFI investigation guidelines to conduct thorough analyses of all factors leading to the injury or accident and identify root causes

  • Analyzes frequency, historical accident/injury data, web-based safety, and BEAR cost reports to identify trends and most help needed areas and reduce company liability

  • Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of injury and crash prevention techniques; demonstrates a basic understanding of job methods; identifies root causes of injuries and auto crashes; recognizes and reports unsafe working conditions

  • Applies established procedures for responding to incidents; determines and documents information pertinent to incidents; communicates resolutions or results to stakeholders

  • Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others

  • Demonstrates and explains proper processes, procedures and methods for small package operations; demonstrates a basic knowledge of common tools, equipment, and technology used within the operation

  • Willing to travel, as needed
