UPS Brokerage Supervisor II in Indianapolis, Indiana
The Brokerage Supervisor II is responsible for administering Customs and Border Protection compliance, conducting exception reviews, and
providing customer care assistance. He/she must be able to work varying shifts and travel by car or plane- extended stays are possible. He/she trains hourly employees on compliance with regulations and requirements, and implements and enforces related policies and procedures. He/she maintains productivity, develops team goals, and manages the workload of hourly staff. The Brokerage Supervisor II is well versed on international commerce and transportation industry changes. This position supervises hourly staff.
The Brokerage Supervisor II responds to Customs information requests and notices of action to ensure timelines are met. He/she also reviews
compliance and liability reports to reduce cargo delays and costs associated with non-compliance of Customs and Border Protection regulations. This position conducts reviews of customs and operations exception reports. The Brokerage Supervisor II reviews entry reports to ensure accuracy, and reviews Customs' memorandums and notices to be aware of Customs' regulation changes. He/She is responsible for proactively managing exceptions and resolving problems in a timely manner to meet customer needs and avoid penalties.
Conduct customer meetings and business reviews to help customers maintain a leading business edge.
Delegates and prioritizes the workload to meet customers' deadlines.
Ensures staff development by coaching and providing feedback and verifying that employees have career goals and plans.
Conducts performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues
Identifies opportunities for advancing skills and capabilities.
Applies knowledge of Customers' business to identify growth opportunities.
Reviews and approves Customs Statements to verify accuracy.
Reviews client profitability and scope of work to identify possible changes or necessity of fee increases.
Monitors accounts receivable and exchange issues to ensure current balance accuracy.
Budget Management: Tracks expenditures against financial targets; describes impact of area’s budget on organizational financial plan.
Conducts Customer Analysis: Works with others to research stakeholders' and key decision-makers' needs, requirements, and perspectives; describes in general terms customer characteristics, preferences, history, processes and constraints; lists what products and services are currently used by customers; uses knowledge of customers to provide input into which products or features to promote.
Report Generation: Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others.
Supply Chain Management: Demonstrates a basic understanding of supply chain concepts; identifies issues within a supply chain.
1 year Brokerage experience - Preferred
Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Preferred
Experience supervising others – Preferred
Customs Broker License - Preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office products or equivalent software - Preferred
