Job Title: HR Talent Acquisition Specialist

Department: Center of Employment Human Resources – 8203 National Turnpike Louisville, KY 40214

Days: Monday – Friday (Occasional Sat. and Sun. - Event Driven) Hours: 8:00am – 10:00pm

Work Environment:

The HR Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing relationships with recruiting sources and supplying adequate applicant flow to staff assigned areas. He/she acts fairly independent of supervision and reports to the employment supervisor. Results are measured by meeting department goals and objectives, and effectively utilizing recruiting resources. Daily work is balanced through scheduling events, weekly travel throughout the state for UPS LOOP and working scheduled events at schools and in the community.

Job Summary:

The Specialist will schedule, oversee and evaluate recruiting events and school visits on a daily basis with his/her assigned areas throughout the state of Kentucky. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining public relations, networking with key school and community officials and supporting the UPS Corporate Mission and Strategy. He/she will assist with and monitor affirmative action goals and recruit applicants to help meet department goals and objectives including retention. Will also promote employment, educational opportunities, career opportunities and other benefits at UPS.

Job Description:

The HR Talent Acquisition Specialist will apply workforce planning knowledge to monitor hiring plans and devise recruiting strategies. He/she will develop professional working relationships with key-contacts and travel extensively throughout the state of Kentucky. The candidate will execute daily communication plans, coordinate and travel to scheduled recruiting events, maintain and enhance school and community contacts, and evaluate effectiveness of scheduled events throughout the year. He/she will research, prepare and execute presentations in front of large groups, and conduct employment interviews while traveling. Candidate must have the ability to work Sunday through Saturday (seven-day work week) when necessary and work various timeframes in a non-traditional work schedule. Will also work with Education Mentors to ensure retention and support.

Required Skills:

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, have the ability to travel (including extended over-night travel), work weekends and nights, and multi-task.

  • Must be able to set up equipment required for recruiting events, drive to event locations, collaborate and work with other recruiters, and provide recruiting presentations in a public forum.

  • Strong planning, organization, public speaking and communication skills.

  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products.

  • Must be a college graduate or near completion of degree or have equivalent HR recruiting experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Interviewing and Automated Employment (AE) applicant tracking system experience is desired.

  • Company travel and advertising experience is a plus.

  • Applicant who has utilized Metro College or Earn and Learn that can speak to personal experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of educational programs is a plus.

  • Experience in creating advertisement designs, writing published communication pieces, and using UPS style guidelines preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other web-based recruitment preferred.

  • Graphic design and experience with design software technology is desired.

Interpersonal Skills:

Candidate must have strong networking, public speaking skills and a professional appearance. Ability to interact with the public on all levels, especially the student population. Strong planning and organizational skills, decision making skills, leadership and time management skills, and a team player.

Additional Notes:

Applicant must be prepared to deliver a 5–10-minute presentation on one of our educational programs - UPS LOOP, Earn & Learn, Metro College or School to Work. Candidate must present as if the audience (interviewers) were a group of high school students. Engagement, salesmanship, and creativity are a must in your delivery.
