About this role:

The Information Security Manager , Network Security, provides guidance, leads, and performs a broad range of complex technical and professional work activities to identify, investigate, analyze, and remediate information security events. The position monitors Information Technology (I.T.) security controls and services to protect enterprise and information assets. This position collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders to develop secure business solutions while providing training for colleagues, oversees work, allocates resources, and maintains knowledge on emerging technologies. This position analyzes security event and incident information for patterns and trends and develops new rules and methods of detection and prevention. He/She gathers and assembles threat intelligence information and correlates it to UPS security events and developing recommendations for changes in information security posture.

THe Information Security Manager manages the day-to-day operation of the Information Security Network Security function. He/she is responsible for:

  • responding to and assessing security events and conducts analysis

  • Managing network security infrastructure systems availability, service, and support

  • Collaborating with vendors to resolve issues and identify root cause, developing process changes and creating infrastructure strategies to meet business requirements

  • Assessing infrastructure environment risks and reviewing changes to ensure adherence to change management disciplines

  • Holdings team members responsible for meeting established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals

  • Coaching team members and providing on-going feedback and support to improve performance

  • Mentoring colleagues and providing guidance to teams to resolve security and business issues

Off-hour work is often required for this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience successfully managing/leading an IT function

  • Very strong technical, analytical, management and troubleshooting skills with a primary focus on networking skills including firewall, VPN and network threat mitigation technologies

  • Strong planning, organization and communication skills as well as customer service skills

  • Experience with securing network systems

  • Ability to analyze a problem/project quickly and accurately

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required

  • Highly organized and excellent project management skills, attention to detail and ability to meet and exceed tight deadlines

  • Very strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP fundamentals, Linux and Windows operating systems, network, system and data analysis techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Prior network security experience a plus

  • Information Security certification a plus

Pre-Requisites:

  • Must possess very strong network technology skills

  • Must have 2+ years’ experience managing or leading an IT technical function
