UPS Regulated Good Manager in Richmond, Virginia

Job Summary

The Regulated Goods Manager plays a key leadership role by assuring compliance with TForce Freight Hazardous Materials Procedures and the underlying U.S. Domestic /International regulations governing the transportation hazardous materials, TForce Freight Procedures for handling regulated goods such as tobacco, and alcoholic beverages where those commodities are regulated. For hazardous materials responsibilities, the Regulated Goods Manager will focus on TForce Freight Hazardous Materials Procedures, which fulfill the transportation requirements of DOT and IMDG regulations.

The Regulated Goods Manager will also contribute to compliance efforts with respect to EPA and OSHA regulations as they connect with operational functions. This role oversees and monitors government regulation changes which impacts the needs of the business. The incumbent is responsible for cross functional interaction with Health and Safety, Operations, Operation Excellence and other various business segments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. The incumbent oversees all aspects of corporate audits, self-audits, Quick Look Audits (QLA), and Corrective Action Plans (CAP) to ensure controls are being maintained. This position manages and oversees region regulated goods coordinators.

Responsibilities

  • Works cross-functionally to identify and implement alternative processes that improve efficiency and compliance

  • Engages and interfaces with local and federal governmental and regulatory agencies

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for hazardous materials

  • Trains and developes region regulated goods coordinators

  • Develops policies and procedures to maintain compliance

  • Oversees the development, quality and implements training courses and materials (i.e., instructor-led or Computer Based Training [CBT]); conducts training using presentations, hands-on demonstrations, curriculum guides and testing materials

  • Ensures operational improvements are carried out to improve PHMSA Compliance, Safety and Accountability (CSA) Hazardous Material scores

  • Identifies or develops new solutions or practices for TForce Freight

  • Develops success stories for pilots or projects that will happen across the company

Preferences

  • Possesses organizational management and strategic planning skills

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and is detail oriented

  • Possesses experience with local and federal governmental and regulatory agencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related area

  • Willing to travel, as required
