UPS TForce Expedited Sales Support Specialist in Richmond, Virginia

Job Summary

The Inside Sales Third Party Logistics (3PL) Account Specialist manages customers for 3PL companies. He/She supports the current customer base and secures new business through solicitation of new 3PL companies to increase revenue for UPS Freight. The Inside Sales 3PL Account Specialist facilitates the preparation of bids, contracts, and rate negotiations with 3PL companies.

The Inside Sales 3PL Account Specialist receives and reviews each bid (i.e., RFP/request for quote) and account for necessary information (e.g., confirm Letter of Authority, etc.) to ensure they are ready for analysis, as well as analyzes data (e.g., lane data, average weight, commodity classes, etc.) for bids to ensure appropriate discount recommendations are provided to Pricing. He/She receives and reviews list of contracts due for renewal to verify accuracy and timelines for renewal. This position notifies customers on renewals with current pricing to ensure the customer is aware of the revised pricing structure, as well as assists customers with daily shipment issues to ensure customer shipping requirements are met.

Other Duties

  • Collaborates with customers on billing issues to ensure clarity and timely bill payment.

  • Responds to leads for 3PL providers from the field to receive new RFPs and create additional revenue.

  • Collaborates with new 3PL providers to finalize the master agreement.

  • Contacts 3PL providers to verify UPS service meets their needs.

  • Contacts leads received from the field (e.g., local account managers, etc.) concerning operational issues to improve service and performance.

  • Submits bids to Pricing to establish initial recommended pricing to 3PL provider.

  • Negotiates renewal level with customer to maintain profitability, retain the business, and gain new business.

  • Collaborates with 3PL customers on packaging issues and requirements (e.g., damage claims, etc.) to ensure freight is properly packaged for appropriate handling.

  • Collaborates with Pricing and Contracts to get 3PL providers approved on revenue potential.

  • Maintains continual contact with Pricing, Contracts, and Computer Information Systems to ensure billings, corrections, and contracts are updated.

  • Conducts Competitive Analysis: Demonstrates a basic understanding of competitor’s tactics, product/service offerings, and strategies; translates competitor performance and actions into implications for UPS.

  • Conducts Customer Analysis: Works with others to research stakeholders' and key decision-makers' needs, requirements, and perspectives; describes in general terms customer characteristics, preferences, history, processes and constraints; lists what products and services are currently used by customers; uses knowledge of customers to provide input into which products or features to promote.

  • Creates Account Strategies: Understands customer’s general business needs and knows the account status; may provide information about accounts for use in planning account strategy.

  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Demonstrates a working knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information; identifies appropriate sources of information.

  • Strategic Customer Partnerships: Establishes and maintains entry level contacts in customer organizations; builds relationships to further understand customers’ business and objectives.

Minimum Qualifiers

  • Bachelor’s degree or International equivalent- Preferred

  • Knowledge in area of sales- Preferred
