UPS Paralegal Specialist in San Diego, California

TUPSS seeks an experienced transactional in-house paralegal. The Paralegal Specialist provides support to TUPSS and UPS attorneys in the management and oversight of legal matters. The incumbent provides advice and counsel to the company’s attorneys and to internal clients (e.g., Marketing, Operations and Franchise Relations). This role might occasionally handle a limited amount of litigation-related work. The Paralegal Specialist works closely with internal and Outside Counsel (OC) to ensure matters are set up and handled effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews legal documents to ensure accuracy

  • Collaborates with other internal TUPSS and UPS functions on various legal matters to resolve issues collectively, effectively, and thoroughly in timely manner

  • Acts as a liaison between other internal TUPSS and UPS functions and OC to procure appropriate legal advice

  • Prepares reports to track and monitor progress of legal matters to support the TUPSS legal department

  • Takes on special projects, other assignments and participates in various committees to support the TUPSS legal department/business as required

  • Collaborates with internal TUPSS and UPS functions to gather/provide information to and communicate with outside organizations

  • Researches information, prepares, drafts and reviews transactional documents (including franchise-related transactional and regulatory compliance documents)

  • Assists with regulatory filings, provides Intellectual Property (IP) support, and processes incoming issues and matters

  • Possesses ability to communicate with style guide, using consistent language; and take pride in paralegal’s work product, which must be substantially free of errors; pays attention to details; drafts (agreements, amendments, other transactional documents)

  • Works independently, though, with minimal supervision and achieves high-quality results

  • Identifies appropriate sources of information, conducting research and soliciting and gathering information

  • Possesses ability to function in a team-oriented environment, shares ideas, collaborating results, and be prepared to cover and/or assist others at times to ensure business continuity

  • Organizes and tracks a significant number of matters notwithstanding distractions, interruptions and changing priorities (which requires flexibility and an openness to change)

  • Possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication and time management skills

  • Experience in franchise/franchise law, IP, commercial contract/purchasing, and/or marketing related (contests, sweepstakes, and sponsorships)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

  • Experience with DocuSign eSignature and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM+)
