Job Description:
As a part of the UPS Global Accounting Center, the accounting intern will support the maintenance and accuracy of US GAAP and Local Statutory financial statements for assigned legal entities.
Job Responsibilities
Perform variance analysis & commentary work for financial statement (US GAAP & Local GAAP) to identify risks during monthly/quarterly/year-end close and follow up with respective BPO management team, as necessary.
Respond to inquiries from reporting manager(s)/team lead with explanations referencing local GAAP.
Assist with Statutory Accounting and Reporting (STAR) pack preparation, checklist and reconciliation template. Obtain inputs from BPO Management, where applicable.
Prepare monthly statutory (T-Company) journal entries required for financial statements (US GAAP to local GAAP)
Support preparation of government statistical reporting
Prepare audit adjusting journal entries as directed by the team lead/manager(s)
Investigate root causes, contribute to remediation plan and report the status and timing of open issues identified through statutory audits.
Prepare and submit pre-audit requests as determined by the external auditor.
Support statutory audit (interim/final) and validate audited financial statement drafted by Ernst and Young and audit review points by Deloitte.
Provide support for internal audit and external audit (EY, DT) and Auditor’s queries.
Assist with F&A projects such as (a) Global Chart of accounts (COA) changes implementation, error trap ping & remapping work – create and prepare tools to validate and evaluate impact for US GAAP & local GAAP or (b) support ACR (Accounting, Controls and Reporting) tower on Financial Cloud ecosystem process rollout to new Oracle cloud.
Job Requirements
Pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Accounting or related fields.
Good time management and able to work well under pressure with a tight timeline.
Strong attention to details to ensure the accuracy of entities' monthly variance analytical review.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with different stakeholders and remote teams.
Being proactive, possess good analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Some audit experience will be a plus.
Intern will need to have the necessary work visa/authorization to work legally in Singapore.
