UPS Brokerage Manager in Singapore, Singapore

Job Summary

The Brokerage Manager’s objectives across both Small Package and Freight Forwarding is are to develop operational goals and plans, monitor and communicate operations performance, manage operations to meet customer deadlines, and maintain a close relationship with clients. The manager is responsible for managing departmental financial performance, organizing and prioritizing workloads, and developing and maintaining standard operation procedures (SOPs) and execute strategies that support grow the top line revenue . This position manages supervisors within the department.

Manages Brokerage Compliance and Quality Process

  • Manages responses to information requests and notices of action from Customs to ensure timelines are met.

  • Adhere to custom’s regulations and requirements during entry filing process and manages compliance and liability reports to reduce cargo delays and costs associated with non-compliance of Customs Border Protection regulations.

  • Evaluates performance against quality goals to develop process improvements (SOPs) and increase quality levels.

Oversees Brokerage Exception Reviews

  • Monitors various reports to proactively resolve all Customs exceptions to ensure timely Customs release and to conduct error root cause analysis to identify corrective actions plans if required.

  • Resolves Customs' problems in a timely manner to meet customers' expectations and avoid penalties.

  • Monitors Customs' memorandums and notices to be aware of Customs regulation changes and industry news.

Monitors Brokerage Productivity and Reports Management

  • Monitor and review existing processes to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.

  • Confers with Industrial Engineering and Solutions to develop and implement new operating processes in effort to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Supervises Account Management Process

  • Monitors daily productivity to ensure clients' expectations are met and to conduct customer meetings and business reviews when necessary to assist them in maintaining a leading business edge.

  • Maintains clients' profiles and standard operating procedures to ensure the brokerage team has client requirements documented.

Manages and Develops Others

  • Manages resources and people processes to ensure the day to day administration of processes and formal procedures.

  • Identifies individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities to facilitate individual and team development.

  • Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement.


  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree, Master's Degree in Logistic/Transportation, Others or equivalent.

  • At least 8 Year(s) of working experience in the related field of Customs Brokering (preferred)

  • Minimum 5 Year(s) of successful people management experience is preferred

  • Well-updated and keeping abreast to the Customs’ changes and updates.

  • Possess leadership qualities and relevant Customs Brokerage Certification (preferred).

  • Positive and able to work well in a team with excellent interpersonal skill which includes conducting presentation to the top management.

  • Confident, customer-oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results

  • Technical skillset in Customs Brokerage preferred
