UPS Freight Officer in Singapore, Singapore

Job Description

  1. Apply knowledge of local import/export regulations and requirements, staying abreast of new regulations and programs that may impact the operations.

  2. Liaise with outsourced vendor (e.g. trucking) and manage performance to ensure desire service levels can achieve.

  3. Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented in response to any findings in the internal/external compliance audits.

  4. Ensure work processes stay relevant to the current operating arena and customer expectations.

  5. Report and resolve issues and address any ocean freight operations concerns.

  6. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Management.

  7. Monitor or involve in daily operations works as mentioned below:

Export

1.

  1. Communicate with shipper or receive booking from shipper.

  2. Confirm and Check selling rates availability through Quote Assist or with the relevant Sales person.

  3. Check sailing schedule and availability with the carrier.

  4. For US, Verify valid FMC filed rate for the booking. Verify if shipment is prepaid or collect, review shipping requirement per customer or request approval from IOR if shipment is Freight Collect

  5. Request Booking with the carrier and receive Booking Confirmation from the Carrier

  6. Release Booking Confirmation to shipper, proceed E2K entry of shipment information

  7. Arrange Cargo pickup, for FCL check with shipper on stuffing of the container. For LCL check shipper if cargo are palletize or in loose

  8. Ensure the cost are contain, negotiate with vendor for any extra charges incurred and ensure that there is a Margin against the sell rate.

  9. Ensure Billing are accurate and no error.

  10. Require to perform permits before cargo gate in to the terminal, to ensure the cargo are declare in appropriate manner.

Import

  1. Communicate with Consignee or Inform Receiver of the shipment arrival.

  2. Confirm and Check selling rates availability through Quote Assist or with the relevant Sales person.

  3. Check sailing schedule and availability with the carrier.

  4. Receive Notice of Arrival from the carrier.

  5. Provide Prealert to the customer of the vessel arrival and delivery of the cargo or Container.

  6. Release DO to Consignee, proceed E2K entry of shipment information and Milestone.

  7. Arrange Cargo Delivery, for FCL check with Consignee on unstuffing of the container. For LCL check shipper if cargo are palletize or in loose

  8. Ensure the cost are contain, negotiate with vendor for any extra charges incurred and ensure that there is a Margin against the sell rate.

  9. Ensure Billing are accurate and no error

  10. Require to perform permits before cargo arrival to the terminal, to ensure the cargo are declare in appropriate and correct manner

Requirements

  1. Possess a Diploma or Bachelor Degree of any discipline, preferably in Logistics & Supply Chain/Business Administration.

  2. Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in Transportation or Freight Forwarding related field.

  3. Knowledge on Strategic Goods Management, Export Control and Internal Compliance Program (ICP) will be an advantage.

  4. Good communication skills to work with various parties like customer, internal partners and operational teams across the business.
