UPS Distribution Division Manager in Tempe, Arizona

Are you looking to expand your career horizons with the world’s largest transportation and logistics company? UPS SCS is seeking an experienced and dynamic Distribution Division Manager to oversee the execution and success of UPS Supply Chain operations.

The Distribution Division Manager impacts the organization by acting as the primary face to the customer and leading management of operations for multiple facilities and accounts. He/She defines the work environment, sets goals and standards, and ensures compliance with standards for the operation. The Distribution Division Manager is typically responsible for a significant geographic area, including responsibility for operations, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. This position oversees managers within the department.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops an operational strategy to achieve financial performance and customer satisfaction

  • Monitors operational processes for a significant geography to meet customer requirements and ensure compliance with performance standards

  • Guides financial leadership to generate revenue growth, revenue management, cost containment, and achievement of target margins

  • Negotiates price quotes and selection of preferred suppliers to develop an equitable contract that meets customers' requirements while generating revenue for UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS)

  • Reviews performance metrics to ensure operations adhere to company standards, policies, procedures, and defined goals

  • Sets standards and priorities for the work environment of multiple facilities to ensure compliance with standards for operations, customer satisfaction, and financial performance

  • Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Succession Planning, Salary Administration, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day to day administration of processes and formal procedures

  • Ensures that direct and indirect reports have specific, documented career goals and detailed plans for achieving these goals to advance the development of their personal and professional growth

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates a complex knowledge of logistics and distribution operations, including outside carriers and outsourced networks, considers impact of ground transportation operations on other parts of the business, and develops solutions to improve the day-to-day operations

  • Assesses business needs by monitoring change, breaks down business components to better prioritize focus, identifies related business demands and makes assessment on long-term goals, and creates solutions designed to fit current and future needs

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, leadership, and coordination of people and resources

  • Must have operations experience in high-volume warehouse or manufacturing operation, including 3-5 years operations management experience with P&L responsibility (experience must include work in multiple facilities with multiple customers)

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional personnel at all levels

  • Background in or knowledge of Healthcare operations - Preferred

  • Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
