UPS CSTG Intermed Apps Developer in Tinton Falls, New Jersey

The Intermediate Application Developer interacts with customers and their technical environment including application and database servers through VPN and other remote access means for the purpose of providing consulting and integration services. He/She executes work to organize, manage, oversee, and advise integration services work assignments. This position serves as a point-of-contact for customer management and development teams during the integration project timeline.

The Intermediate Application Developer communicates problem resolution status to manage stakeholder expectations of server performance and availability. He/She investigates problems to analyze and determine root causes and to coordinate resolutions with Management, development groups, and customer Information Systems groups. This position monitors live server / application activity and responds to customer issues identified through various means including email, helpdesk system, and phone.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducts Computer and software maintenance to support department users and to assist Technical Users Group with maintaining virtual environments

  • Researches Computer hardware and software specifications and prices to place and process orders and to ensure timely deliveries and installations

  • Manages department hardware and software inventory to maintain accurate Computer inventories and to comply with software license standards and requirements

  • Maintains proper process documentation to ensure knowledge repository is maintainable and transferable

  • Builds successful relationships to establish and leverage communications among UPS internal and external groups

  • Acts as the defect tracking tool (i.e., Team Track) subject matter expert to manage defect tracking and reporting and to assist with set-up and operational applications questions

Knowledge and Skills

  • Applies Database Knowledge: Demonstrates some advanced knowledge of database design principles; works with users to define requirements with minimal oversight from others; defines user rights; describes security measures, such as passwords, firewalls, and access rights based on user requirements; describes information organization, such as classes, links, records, and fields

  • Applies Information Systems Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the strategy, structures, processes and procedures of the enterprise in its relationship with the business and its activities; identifies business representatives affected by information systems with some assistance

  • Applies System Tools and Utilities Knowledge: Demonstrates proficiency in the use of at least one system tool or utility, as well as working knowledge of several other types of tools or utilities; develops, administers, and/or supports systems with limited assistance; measures the capabilities of individual tools to satisfy development or support needs

  • Project Management: Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one's role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager

  • Project Planning: Demonstrates an understanding of basic project planning processes, including planning action items and resources

  • SQL Reporting Services experience - Preferred

  • HTML development experience - Preferred

  • Experience using ASP.net, T-SQL, C# - Preferred

  • CSS development experience - Preferred

  • Experience with JavaScript, JQuery, or Ajax Development - Preferred

  • Experience in system analysis - Preferred

  • Application development experience - Preferred

  • Experience in system architecture - Preferred

  • Stored procedure development experience - Preferred

  • Experience using MZ- Azure - Preferred
