UPS Technical Support Technician Scotland in United Kingdom

Position Summary:

The Technology Support Group Technician provides support for our internal customers. The Technician is responsible for a specific geographical are and is therefore required to travel to sites within that area.

The successful applicant will be based in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data communication and data security

  • Problem isolation, resolution and escalation

  • Proactive monitoring

  • Achieve service level objectives

  • Liaising with various UPS departments

  • Any other tasks required

  • Providing advanced support for internal and external UPS systems,

  • Assisting with training and directing TSG and other UPS employees,

  • Network management and maintenance for local and wide area networks

  • Advanced troubleshooting of failed computer and telecommunication systems.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize

  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines

  • Flexible attitude to working hours , as this role will include shift and night work when necessary

  • Flexibility - this position may involve large amounts of travel and staying away overnight, including weekend work.

  • Integrity and a high level of confidentiality

  • Flexible and enthusiastic attitude

  • Technical skills would be an advantage in any of the following areas:-

  • Windows 2000/XP and Active Directory

  • Other operating systems (Unix, OS400, Mainframe)

  • Outlook Client, Internet, Intranet

  • UPS / Lynx internal, external systems

  • Fundamentals of data communication and networking topologies
