UPS Industrial Engineer Analyst in Singapore
The IE (Industrial Engineering) Specialist works with operations and engineering departments to assist in developing, implementing, and deploying operation processes and best practices. Using LEAN principle, he/she will lead process continuous improvement initiatives, working together closely with operations team. He/she will help train Operations resources in the approved processes with standards work measurement and LEAN guidelines. He/she will maintain the IE CL database which houses Standard Work document, Facility Layouts, Equipment list and relevant files. This position will assist the IE Supervisor & Operations Supervisor in special re-engineering, automation or new projects, as necessary. The IE Specialist will take an assistant or lead role in planning and execution of medium size project implementations initiatives. He/She may also coordinate cross-functional team members ensure timelines and project deliverables are met. This position may also be responsible for coordinating Operation Trainers efforts in field training.
Develops Work Measurement to Optimize Operating Plans
Develops and maintains work measurement for all operations to support all necessary operating plans and reflect current normal conditions.
Works with Operations to develop work schedule/plan (i.e. shift pattern, area of coverage, specific work, and movements needed within a specified parameter), which supports both operation and customer requirements.
Uses work measurement and innovative technology to improve processes and job set-ups which reduce the hours required to perform the operation.
Develops Logistics Operating Plans
Based on work measurement, work with Operations Managers to develop all components of the Master Operating Plan (MOP), Peak Seasonal Plans to improve operational efficiency.
Analyzes current operating plan to develop continuous improvements, using process flow charts, production schedules, technology, etc.).
Reviews recommendations (e.g., improved job set ups, operating plans, automation, layout changes etc.) with senior IE and Operations managers for approval.
Develop mathematical model to simulate resources required to execute an optimal operation.
Develops contingency plans for unexpected situations.
Drives Scorecard Accountability
Conducts routine audits to ensure accuracy of processes.
Communicates discrepancies to Operations Managers to ensure action plans are in place.
Develops goals to drive accountability for Balanced Scorecard elements. Drives and monitors progress toward scorecard goals and measures.
Training for Operations team
Identifies skillset gaps that require training or re-training (e.g., Operating Plan execution, process adherence, proper methods, work measurement, use of automation & technology, etc.) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Delivers training to operators and staff via classroom (virtual), conference calls, electronic material, or one-to-one to promote learning transfer, ensure training compliance, and improve employees’ operational performance.
Provides training to management team for implementation of new procedures, processes, services, and technology to maintain operational effectiveness.
Job Specific Competencies
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree - Industrial Engineering Preferred; other Engineering, Logistics, Management, Computer Science and Mathematics majors also acceptable
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience in continuous improvement / LEAN technique
Strong communication skills
Demonstrated skills on MS Office, Project, Visio and AutoCAD
Experience in robotic automation
